Until recently Phra Khanong was not inhabited by many expats but rather Thais living their bustling lives with little entertainment or accommodation for non-locals. Now it is an increasingly popular area for expats with some recently built high-rise condos and the W District mall and accompanying outdoor area providing a wide range of Western and Thai cuisine. Supermarkets are a little lacking though there is the Mini Big C and various mom and pop shops dotted around the area.
